Meet our Member Marco Swart

Marco Swart, founder of Swart Legal, is waiting for us in the Tribes restaurant in Eindhoven. Marco Swart has been a lawyer since 1996 and started his own law firm 9 years ago. After the separation with his business partner because of a disagreement about the plans for the future he continued his practice under the renewed name  Swart Legal. He signalled an increasing demand for legal scans.  Marco continues: ‘I see many benefits in advising proactively. I would like to help preventing the outbreak of a fire, instead of only acting to extinguish the fire. With relatively simple means, we can accomplish a lot. Clear, well-defined conditions to customers, contractors and employees can help to prevent conflicts. Once you have a disagreement, you’ll only have the Terms as guidance and legal direction’.

Patience seems to be a virtue
I have experienced this myself in finding a location in Amsterdam. Everyone said from the beginning: ‘you should go to Amsterdam, because that’s the place to be!’ Jasper and I agreed on that. After all, in Amsterdam are most business centres located, it’s a beautiful and very international city and changes are more quickly accepted than in other cities.

Meet our member Milad Zandi
We receive an exciting call from Milad Zandi: ‘we have a name!’ A couple of weeks ago, we were in Tribes The Hague and we met with Milad Zandi. Milad started his own company in recruitment in April this year, but he had one little obstacle: finding the perfect name for his company. So, when we received the call, we were very excited to hear what it had become! Milad Zandi is Managing partner of… Yellow Beagle!

We’re interviewing Ralf and Sara in a meeting room nearby, while Mr Bear keeps an eye on us.

Meet our member Paul de Boer
We are back at the Secoya in Utrecht Papendorp and we are meeting with one of our youngest Tribes members: Paul de Boer. Paul is only 26 years old, but already has founded a successful online marketing and web design bureau: Web Tailor. During his study, Paul had an internship abroad. He worked for a company in New Zealand and created their new website. Impressed by its design and functionality, other companies started calling his boss, asking if Paul could also work for them. And that’s where the idea of Web Tailor was born.

Meet our member Guillaume van Liempt
We’re still at the Maasai in Eindhoven and we are meeting with Guillaume van Liempt, owner of Retailscouts. We find him in the Library lounge, working at one of the flexible workplaces. He likes to work in the Library, thanks to the commotion and the conversations with other Tribes members, but when he needs to really focus, for example over contracts, he moves to a workplace that’s more quiet.

A walk through Utrecht

During a walk through Utrecht I noticed that there are several businessmen and women working in little coffee shops. They are staring at their screens, with a coffee in a paper cup in their hands and they try to shut out the sounds of busy chattering students. Wild stories from the frat boys from Utrecht, who greet each other loudly with a ‘hey dude’. The businessmen and women are (or at least they attempt to) flexible working.
