Meet our Member Marco Swart

Marco Swart, founder of Swart Legal, is waiting for us in the Tribes restaurant in Eindhoven. Marco Swart has been a lawyer since 1996 and started his own law firm 9 years ago. After the separation with his business partner because of a disagreement about the plans for the future he continued his practice under the renewed name  Swart Legal. He signalled an increasing demand for legal scans.  Marco continues: ‘I see many benefits in advising proactively. I would like to help preventing the outbreak of a fire, instead of only acting to extinguish the fire. With relatively simple means, we can accomplish a lot. Clear, well-defined conditions to customers, contractors and employees can help to prevent conflicts. Once you have a disagreement, you’ll only have the Terms as guidance and legal direction’.

It's fantastic!
While I was still counting down the days on June 2, we have now arrived at the Kyrgyz. It was quite a travel to arrive in Kyrgyzstan, but we have made it. I’ve read about the tall trees and the flowing mountain lakes, and they are indeed really beautiful.

Flow is the motivator
Flow is the motivator

Caution! It’s an advanced blog this week!

The time of a carrot and stick is over. It won’t get you anywhere nowadays, not in this complex time. It won’t motivate people any longer by holding them a carrot. And that stick, won’t frighten anyone either. In fact, you’ll probably lose more people... and if you’re not careful, the stick will hit you twice as hard.

Motivating works different now. And that's a good thing!

What does this food have in common?

Simple: these are the names of the best networking parties. Why are these the best? Pure food attracts pure people of all sorts. Maybe it sounds a little strange, but I see it that way. In an etic way, and not in an emic way!

1000 Trees!
This week I spoke with Pauline Versteegh. Pauline is one of our members in Tribes Utrecht Papendorp. Utrecht is a perfect location, centrally in the Netherlands, and we host the Secoya tribe there, all the way from the Amazon. And I think that’s the link that Pauline has found with what she does.

Patience seems to be a virtue
I have experienced this myself in finding a location in Amsterdam. Everyone said from the beginning: ‘you should go to Amsterdam, because that’s the place to be!’ Jasper and I agreed on that. After all, in Amsterdam are most business centres located, it’s a beautiful and very international city and changes are more quickly accepted than in other cities.

Utrecht nostalgia
Yes, you read it again: the left primarily drives me half of my brain, and yes, I love nostalgia.

Mother’s Day
In a few days it’s Mother’s Day again. It’s a day on which all mothers in the world will be celebrated. Their children and husband will make them a breakfast; a beautiful handiwork, a gift and they can stay all day in bed. Our Tribe has been preparing for days now. The three little Schaepmannetjes have been colouring, pasting, packing and riming, and I have made a tight schedule, for Mothers Day to run smoothly. Unlike last year

I'd rather drink wine than water, but this is not always...
Chief Commercial Officer, Alain Brossé has one favourite location: Tribes Brussels. Not because he is Belgian, but because he loves the beauty of the Sami, the hero-tribe from our location in Brussels. If he isn’t working in the Library lounge he is probably meeting in our inspiring meeting rooms. Once a week he writes an inspiring blog about life, work and business.

The shepherd, the networker!
Networking. It’s a 'simple' word. But it’s not such an easy activity. Internet is full with tips and tricks, to learn how to network. I’m not quite sure if you can learn the activity, I think you should have some aptitude for it. I have been networking quite a lot during my life; it started while studying, and I have developed this ‘art’ into my adult years. I think it’s a lot of fun.
